Best Buddies Partnership
Post
Below you will find a combination of old and new:
Best Buddies is an organization dedicated to building a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Their goal is to end the social, physical and economic isolation too often experienced by people with IDD.
Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro has a long-standing and enormously powerful connection with Best Buddies, so we are particularly excited about partnering with them for our first community engagement initiative here in Madrid.
To initiate this partnership, we welcomed Monica Mir, the Director of Best Buddies Spain, in March for a series of presentations to parents, faculty, and all our students. These presentations highlighted the importance of inclusion and served as an introduction to Best Buddies and our burgeoning partnership with them and the Buenafuente School.
On May 8th, students and faculty from our Lower and Middle School welcomed students from the Buenafuente School and Best Buddies leaders for an afternoon of games. And more fun is scheduled for May 22nd and June 5th.
At Brewster Madrid our goal is to develop longstanding relationships with community organizations that share our values, address community needs, and support our students' growth.
